Advantages of Blue Revolution:

i. Providing food security

ii. Providing nutrition security

iii. Providing employment, fishing, aquaculture and a host of allied activities are a source of livelihood to over 14 million people in India.

iv. A major foreign exchange earner

v. Outbreaks of pathogens are also a major risk factor in commercial aquaculture with millions of dollars lost annually. Pathogens cannot only wipe out a cultured fishery but they also can infect nearby wild species, which can result in a collapse of these wild fisheries.

Ports developed by China in Bay of Bengal-
1) Payra Deep Sea port in Bangladesh
2) Kyauk Pyu in Myanmar

** The BLUE REVOLUTION is being implemented to achieve economic prosperity of fishermen and fish farmers and to contribute towards food and nutritional security through optimum utilization of water resources for fisheries development in a sustainable manner,keeping in view the biosecurity and environmental concerns.
** ADVANTAGES :-
@@ Guarantees export revenue that can be used to pay foreign debt.
@@ Contributed in the growth of large scale export oriented businesses enterprises in developing nations.
@@ Allows natural population of fish to reproduce while farm raised versions are being used for food.
@@ Intensive commercial Aquaculture is relatively efficient: for eg,beef cattle requires 7 pounds of grain to produce 1 pounds of meat ,catfish requires 1.7:1
@@ Economic value of fish is high ,new potential profits to be gained by cultivating in large quantities.
@@ Fish are given supplement for:-
# faster growth = increased output.
# colour of meat (eg, salmon )= Aesthetically more pleasing.
# Antibiotics = These lead to increase in supply and export .

** Mission fingerling ,project Sagarmala ,and various other initiatives are also taken by our government to fetch more from the blue revolution for its successful implementation.
