For those who are preparing for CAT 2017, Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer based selection test conducted by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) for their business administration programs. The CAT exam is an important prerequisiJain InsIMI), N Jamanlal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies (JBIMS) and many others.

This exam is conducted every year by IIM’s on rotational basis. CAT Exam Dates are generally declared in the month of August every year.

CAT 2016 Results are out! IIM’s officially released the CAT 2016 results on January 9th, 2017

ELIGIBILITY

The candidate must fulfill the below mentioned criteria’s:

1. Hold a Bachelor’s Degree,with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (45% in case of the candidates belonging to Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disability (PWD)/Differently Able (DA) category)

2. The degree should be awarded by any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state lnUGequivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Govern

3. Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirements and are awaiting results can also apply. If selected, such candidates will be allowed to join the program pe latest bgistrar of her/his College/Institute (issued on or before June 30, 2017) stating that the candidate has completed all the requirements for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/equivalent qualification on the date of the issue of the certificate.

IIMs may verify eligibility at various stages of the selection process, the details of which are provided at the website www.iimcat.ac.in.

ADMISSION PROCESS

Please note that each IIM shortlisted candidates for second stage of selection which may be independent of each other.

The process may include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussions (GD) and Personal Interviews (PI). Performance in CAT 2016 examination is an important component in the admission process.

ELIGIBILITY VERIFICATION

If a candidate is short-listed for interviews by any IIM, he/she has to comply with the following eligibility verification:

Mark sheets and Degree Certificate

A candidate must show all the original mark sheets and submit attested copies to prove his/her eligibility at the time of interview. Fuhe time of joining the programme

Candidates in the Final Year of Graduation

If short-listed for interview, candidates appearing for the final bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification examination must show an original certificate from the Principal/Registrar/Director of the University/institution certifying that the candidate has obtained 50% marks or equivalent (45% in case of the candidates belonging to SC, ST, and DA category) based on latest available grades/marks. He/she must submit an attested copy of the original certificate at the time of interview.

For the P7 from the Principal/Registrar of their college/institute (issued on or before June 30, 2017) stating that they have completed all the requirements including appearing for supplementary exams if any (the results may, however, be awaited) for obtaining the bachelor’s degree/ equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate. They must obtain at least 50% marks or equivalent. They also must submit an attested copy of the mark sheets and qualifying degree certificate.

CAT EXAM PATTERN

CAT Exam pattern changes every year. This year too the same pattern is said to be followed. The marks allotted for each section is given in the table below:
