  1. Mam, Respite and Reprieve almost sounds same.. Respite means temporary commutation. Ex: for temporary period, converting rigorous to simple imprisonment which is a lesser sentence. Reprieve is postponing the execution order of the sentence(mostly death) for some temporary period allowing convicted to appeal for pardon/commutation to the president.
