When 17-year-old Vrunda Rathi from Nashik took the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains on April 2, she had her eyes set on her prize — to get through Indian Institute of Science (IISc) in Bangalore. And, the results declared on Thursday made her dream come true and secured her a seat at the institute.

Rathi bagged the All India Rank 1 among girls in the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Mains 2017.

Most candidates want to score well in the JEE Main as it is their gate-pass to the Indian Institutes of Technology – premier engineering institutes in the country – but for Vrunda IIT was never the goal.
