Guru Ghasidas was a remarkable social reformer among the dispersed community of this region almost 200 years ago. He struggled against social evils and injustice, and fought for the poor and downtrodden. His message was simple: that truth and noble conduct are synonyms for God. He made efforts to eliminate the practice of untouchability, and emphasised fraternity and social harmony. He also stressed women’s rights and supported widow marriage.

Plan India, an NGO working in the field of Child Welfare, approached the Ministry of Women and Child Development for supporting their event (Plan for every child-leave no girl child behind), scheduled on 1st November, 2017 at India Habitat Centre New Delhi. The WCD Ministry conveyed its approval for use of its logo for the event.

During the event, Plan India released a report on Gender Vulnerability Index solely prepared by them. The Ministry of WCD was in no way associated in the drafting or compilation of the report.

Revelations made today in the media under the name ‘Paradise Papers’ [based upon expose done by the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ)] indicate that out of 180 countries represented in the data of offshore entities held by persons of different nationalities, India ranks 19th in terms of number of names. 714 Indians reportedly appear in the tally. The Paradise Papers include nearly 7 million loan agreements, financial statements, emails, trust deeds and other paperwork over nearly 50 years from inside Appleby, a prestigious offshore law firm with offices in Bermuda and beyond.
