A deputy traveling on Oleander Avenue in Fort Pierce saw a man riding a bicycle without lights in the roadway around 9 p.m. He attempted to stop the bicyclist, who kept riding. The deputy saw the bicyclist reach into his pocket, grab something and stuff it into his mouth. The man began chewing rapidly, then took a soft drink from the basket on his bike and took several large gulps. The deputy was able to position his patrol vehicle in front of the bicyclist, forcing him to stop. The man kept chewing and swallowing, then resisted the deputy’s attempt to handcuff him.
