  1. The Government in 2013 announced a National Green Corridor Program (NGCP) worth Rs. 43,000 Crore to enable the flow of renewable energy into the National Grid Network.

Specifically, the green energy corridor is grid connected network for the transmission of renewable energy produced from various renewable energy projects. The project was envisaged by Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) in its innovative report titled ‘Green Energy Corridors’. It was proposed as a dedicated transmission network for renewable energy across different renewable energy potential states.

  2. The Government of India has established an installed capacity target of 175 gigawatts (GW) RE by 2022 that includes 60 GW of wind and 100 GW of solar.
India’s contribution to global efforts on climate mitigation extends this ambition to 40% non-fossil-based generation capacity by 2030. So, this will also require the RE to be integrated with National Grid. This Grid would be called as "GREEN ENERGY CORRIDOR"..
