In this problem it’s asking you the approximate percent of change for Airline A’s rating as opposed to Airline B’s. First we should look at the table and see what Airline B’s rating for convenience is, then Airline A’s rating for convenience, for Airline B the rating was 8.0 and for A it was 5.1. The question wants us to figure out what percent greater than 5.1 is 8.0. It’s important to keep this percent change equation in your thought process as much as possible because a major part of GRE questions require this set up. It follows (original – change/original) x 100. Remember to define “original” as “the number being compared (Airline A) to, usually the number that comes after the word than.
To determine the percent increase subtract 8.0 – 5.1 and you get = 2.9(the numerator will never be negative). Now divide 2.9 with 5.1 multiply that with 100 and you get 56.86 %( 0.56862745) remember the question says approximate so we can pick D as our answer which is 57%.
