Thalassaemic Student to Wait For MBBS Admission as IP University Challenges Delhi HC Judgment - News

New Delhi, Oct 24: The 18-year-old Thalassaemic student will have to wait a little longer to get an MBBS seat in any of the three colleges of Indraprastha University as the university has challenged the Delhi High Court judgment. Father of the student says that his son’s struggle seems to be far from being over even though his medical condition is one of the conditions recognised under a law safeguarding the rights of disabled people.

The Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 now includes 21 disabilities, including thalassaemia, as opposed to the previous Act. As the notification, the seat reservation for the disabled students was also increased from 3 per cent to 5 per cent.
