Quite confused about the meaning of "stand for". According to Google it means-
"to support or represent a particular idea or set of ideas: This party standsfor low taxes and individual freedom. If one or more letters stand for a word or name, they are the first letter or letters of that word or name and they represent it: GMT stands for Greenwich Mean Time."
