* ICAN stands for International Campaign to Abolish Nuclear Weapons. It is a civil society organisation founded in 2007 which played a pivotal role in implementation of Nuclear Test Ban Treaty. ICAN won the 2017 Nobel Peace Prize.
* United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is an intergovernmental body which works for the promotion of trade and development opportunities in the developing countries.
* India’s stand on NPT has been consistent in that it considers NPT to be discriminatory towards the non-nuclear weapon NPT members. NPT, on one hand vows for non-proliferation of nuclear weapons while on the other hand, it provides exceptions to the nuclear weapon NPT members (those which had nuclear weapons before 1968). NNWS are those member states which did not have nuclear weapon before 1968.
