Averages (औसत) also called as arithmetic mean. The result obtained by adding the numbers or quantities in a set and dividing the total by the number of members in the set. For example the average of 4, 5, and 6 is 5.
The term ‘average’ (औसत) refers to the ‘middle’ or ‘central’ point; in mathematics the term average (औसत) refers to a number that is a typical representation of a group of numbers (or data set). Averages (औसत) can be calculated in different ways – Mean, Median and Mode.
The most widely used method of calculating an average is the ‘mean’. Most of the time when the term ‘average’ (औसत) is used in a mathematical sense it refers to the mean average (औसत).
