Effective Young’s Modulus of Two wires Connected in Parallel for IIT-JEE and NEET Physics is the video lesson here. Two wires made up of different material are connected in parallel and their one end is connected to a rigid support and at the other end with the help of a light wire a force is applied. This applied force is distributed across both the wires and the total force applied is the sum of the force acting on both the wires. Let us assume that the wires of same dimensions and as they are made up of different material, their young’s modulus is different. As they were kept parallel always, the elongation of both the wires as well as the system is same. Basing on the definition of Young’s modulus, we can find the effective young’s modulus as shown in the video lesson from the topic mechanical properties of solids.
