The process of selecting a judge of International Court of Justice is depending on the general assembly UN Security Council of USA and there is a proportion of minimum words to be given to a person who is nominated for becoming a judge of International Court of Justice 98% minimum 98% should be given as a Boat from the general assembly and 8% minimum words to be given to the nominated person by the security council if disproportion is not covered by the nominated person who is selected then he can he or she cannot become a judge

    2. International Court of Justice based in Hague. The court consists of 15 judges with 5 judges elected every three years for 9 year term.
    The election of members of the Court are governed by ARTICLE 2 statute of ICJ.
    Need ABSOLUTE MAJORITY in both General Assembly (97 votes ) and Security Council (8 votes ).
    Candidates whose names appear on the ballot papers are eligible for election. Nominations of candidates for election to the ICJ are made by individuals who sit on the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
    3. ASEAN is India's 4th largest trading partner, accounting for 10 – 11% of India's overall trade.

    That's not fair. 🙁 Anyway sir, Below are my responses-
    1)3 Landlocked countries of Africa that were in News recently?
    A- Zimbabwe, Burundi, Ethiopia.
    2)The selection process of Judges of ICJ?
    A- The ICJ is composed of 15 judges elected to 9-year terms by the UN General Assembly and the UN Security Council from a list of persons nominated by the national groups in the Permanent Court of Arbitration.
    • Judges serve for nine-year terms and may be re-elected for up to two further terms.
    • Elections take place every three years, with one-third of the judges retiring each time.
    • All States parties to the Statute of the Court have the right to propose candidates.
    • Judges must be elected from among persons of high moral character, who possess the qualifications required in their respective countries for appointment to the highest judicial offices or are jurisconsults of recognized competence in international law.
    • The Court may not include more than one national of the same State. Moreover, the Court as a whole must represent the main forms of civilization and the principal legal systems of the world.

    3)India and ASEAN trade?
    A- It’s about 10%.

    2)• International court of justice is the main judicial organ of united nations ,established in 1945 by the charter of the united nations ,the international court of justice seated in hague,the netherland
    • ICJ constitutes of 15 judges who are elected by united nations of general assembly and security council for a term of 9 years, the first and second lists are of all the permanent judges and third list is a list of judges appointed as hoc, a president and vice president elected by the court through secret ballot for a term 3 years
    • For a purpose of measuring continuity, one-third of the court is elected every three years by the two UN bodies and during this course, judges are eligible for re-election.
    • In case of death and resignation before the completion of term, another judge is elected for remaining term.
    • Every state government, party to the charter, designates a group who propose candidate for the office of ICJ judges .this group includes four members /jurists of the permanent court of arbitration also picked up by state.
    • Both organs of the UN, the general assembly and Security Council vote at the same time but separately .a judge is elected once it receives an absolute majority of the two organs due to which the voting takes place in several rounds.
    • Qualification :
    1) A judge should have high moral character.
    2) A judge should fit to the qualifications of appointment of higher judicial officers as
    Per prescribed by their respective states.
    3) A judge should be a juriconsult of recognised competence in international low.
    • The 15 judges of the court are distributed as per the region.
    1) Three from Africa.
    2) Two from Latin America and Caribbean.
    3) Three from Asia.
    4) Five from Western Europe and other states.
    5) Two from Eastern Europe.

    3)India trade percentage with ASIA is 10
