After the Human Resource Development (HRD) Minister Prakash Javadekar recently hinted of having a single entrance examination for all engineering courses on the same line as NEET, it might become a reality soon. The issue is likely to be discussed in the meeting of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) later this month.
According to sources in HRD ministry, the minister is in favour of holding a single national level test for entrance to engineering colleges on the pattern of the medical entrance test NEET, as it would address many concerns related to quality and bring in more transparency.
